We are curretnly looking at the possibility of running an international conference in the UK in the summer of 2005. This will require a conference co-ordinator and significant funding.
Does anyone have any ideas where we could go to find such a co-ordinator, who could possibly also reseach funding of the event as part of their remit?

I am a freelance consultant who has organised conferences in the past. You probably don’t need a full time person and if you contract a “company” you will have little guarentee of continuity. Depending on the size of event you are planning one co-ordinator on a part time basis will probably suffice until the actual conference itself when the co-ordinator could bring in associates (I have done it this way before)

Having previously done this sort of work before for the BPS Women & Psychology some years ago I strongly agree with Russell. I also found that it helped to have a colleague to “job-share” with. We did it on an expenses only basis because of the type of organisation involved. In another case I also generated and increased the revenue with a publishers book fair.
