Counselling skills training & Career progression training

default-16x9

We work in Development & Training and are looking to be trained in counselling skills and career progression skills.

Ideally we want to look at a basic level of couselling skills training for some of the team and an advanced level for others. As our roles develop we are also becoming more aware that training in career progression would be helpful.

We also feel that the counselling skills are essential to the Team Manager role generally and would be looking to train staff in othe areas of the business.

Any information/help would be appreciated.

many thanks
Donna Shoesmith

  1. Using co-active coaching
CO-ACTIVE COACHING – The term refers to a coaching relationship in which the coach and client actively collaborate to meet the client’s need. A one to one alliance is developed building on the client’s strengths, helping him or her to find answers to their own development and business actions, and then to have them become accountable for making progress.

After an initial meeting, when co-active coaching is explained further, background information is gathered and the coaching style determined. This takes around two hours and is usually face to face. A series of 30 minute telephone calls are planned, usually every two weeks over three months. These calls become part of the contract, encouraging engagement in the process and ownership of the client’s agenda.

If you are interested in this approach – e-mail me, or ring me on 01246 203 407 for a chat.

  4. Counselling Skills Training
    Dear Donna
I have over 20 years experience as a trainer and facilitator and have presented training sessions on counselling skills to a wide range of audiences. These have included people like your team working in development and training, people in internal consultancy roles and line managers/team leaders.

We have also developed and presented a Career Development Workshop which can be modified to meet your needs in developing career progression skills.

I would be pleased to have the opportunity to discuss your requirement in more detail, and following that to send further proposals/information to you if this is required.

    Regards

  6. We take a combined approach
At Metis we approach this from a different angle. Yes, we have qualified counsellors and psychologists who offer first class training and development programmes across all levels in the business, but we also have the benefit of having a sister company, Torres & Partners HR Consultancy, which provides us with very real data and background when discussing people’s career progression. The approach adopted is very focussed on profiling people’s true talents vs aspirations(which sometimes do not meet in early careers), and developing this to produce a realistic plan for both company and individuals. It transfers well to a training and development scenario and is a fresh look at an old problem.
