The Employers' Organisation for local government (EO) and the Institute for Leadership and Management (ILM) have launched a new faculty for local government managers.

The group aims to support middle managers in continuing their development within the sector and learning from ILM members across the public, voluntary and private sectors.

"Those working at a middle management level in local government are a clear target of much of the government's concern for improvement in operational as well as strategic practice, said Rob Pinkham, executive director of the EO. "They are often seen as the forgotten practitioners in management development but now this is set to change."

The new faculty plans to offer:
* A new quarterly magazine dedicated to issues affecting Faculty members, Local Government Manager
* An easy way to keep up to date with current issues across all sectors with an additional subscription to The Edge, the ILM's magazine
* Access to a members-only online resource centre, including a catalogue of more than 2,000 leadership and management briefings
* Guidance on continuing personal and professional development
