Hi Brendon,
It may not be much help, but there is a book called ‘The Art of Speedreading People’ which you might find handy.
I haven’t done any excercises around this topic specifically, but as a few suggestions you could look at rapport building body language, listening skills and clarifying statements?
I will contine to have a think and let you know if I can think of something more useful!
