Designing a DLP- what charges to expect

default-16x9

Does anyone know what the standard fee is for designing a training package ie distance learning pack? Would you charge on a hourly rate or charge on number of users? Or other?

  1. it is what you agree it to be
    Hi K
Sorry if this appears unhelpful but it just depends what you agree, I’ve done it for a fixed fee related to the time it took to produce, a one off consulting fee, a fee related to delivery numbers and a fee linked to further work. Go with what makes you happy (and the cleint accepts!)

  2. Some Things to Consider
As Rus says, there are lots of options, but here are some things to think about.

How much control will have you have over its onward distribution once you’ve handed it over? If none or little, then you may wish to ensure you’re compensated solely in terms of the time it took to develop.

How much of your own IP is in the final solution? If it’s mostly client content, then again, look to recover your investment from the development. If it’s mostly your IP and the distribution could be great, as well as the development charge, you might want to consider a per pack charge too.

Will you be providing any tutor-support to the pack? Or could you include some? In which case, again, charge a fee per pack in addition to recovering your development costs.
