Designing a mentoring programme with several different small companies

default-16x9

My job is 4 year project, which will relate to 16 - 24 yr olds, and will involve trying to work with local employers to enhance the support within the training and development cycle. Alongside this, part of the project will be to train individuals of various companies to act as mentors for colleagues aged 16-24. I thought firstly about setting up in each individual company, but then also wondered how it work to have some 'trained' mentors working outside their own organisation. Any suggestions or previous experience greatly accepted.

  1. Maybe COFEM can provide some guidance
Hello, We are just starting down the mentoring routs so not much help there, but an organisation in the North West called COFEM, which provides opportunities for ethnic and minority staff within housing associations may have some useful information. I believe they are beginning a second wave of mentoring programmes in which they have trained mentors from organisations and the people to be mentored. They recently published an evaluation of their programme that may well be worth a look. Their website is http://www.cofem.org.uk and has information about the mentoring pack and how to contact them for further information. Good luck.
