Development or Learning?

I have been given the chioce in my recent promotion to be called 'HR Officer - Recruitment, Learning and Retention' or 'HR Officer - Recruitment, Development and Retention'. What do you think is the better job title?

  1. what’s in a title?
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence went to China and his job title was translated as the Eternal Typist of the Priest of War!

Go for which ever title YOU want and remember that 20 minutes after meeting you people will judge you not on the title on your card but on your behaviours!

  2. development or learning
    Hi Patrick

    Congratulations on the promotion.

To me the question should be what will you be doing learning or developing? as the philosophy of the two could be worlds apart.

What ever title you choose – make sure the people in your organisation can agree with the title by your deliverables and behaviours.
