Diction/Articulation Help

I am looking for exercises or courses to help with dication and articulation - a recently promoted manager is technically very good at his job but struggles with some elements of diction and articulation.  The majority of online resources and courses I have found are either aimed at children or at those whose first language is not English.  He has attended the usual presenation skills/public speaking courses - I am looking for somethiong more than that whih would improve his speech patterns etc.

Can anyone help?

  1. Diction and Articulation

I can recommend a training company called LearnPurple (, who do a short 90 minute session on Using voice and speech for success. They are primarily aimed at the hospitality/events market but I have recently attended this session and learnt a lot about breathing, articulation and pitch of voice. There were several other english mother tongue speakers apart from me. The trainer was inspirational and I’m sure would do tailored training for individuals.

  2. try a speakers club

A cost effective way of getting good experience and ‘training’ is to join a speakers club.

If you need any specialist assistance then it might not be what you are looking for, but as a supportive environment to practice, it is perfect.

A speakers club gave me the confidence and skills to train and facilitate, I found I enjoyed it.

There is a great deal of experience at these clubs, and part of it is a strong culture of evaluation.

  3. Diction and articulation

I agree with Andrew.  This person will not find a course helpful as it is only a one-off event.  A speaking club will offer on-going feedback and encouragement in a supportive environment.

I am a member of Toastmasters and have seen all kinds of people grow in confidence and skill.
