diversity training

As part of a Best Value Review of Equal Opportunities I am looking at training and development. It is not always appropriate to take staff away from the workplace to deliver training and I am looking at examples of creative solutions. In particular around disabilty and other equal opps issues, but other examples could be adapted.

  1. Diversity

We were involved in the production of a bespoke CD ROM on the topic for Lloyds TSB.

We also have experience on how multimedia developers have begum to add subtitles to some programmes.

The nature of e learning its self should allow a wider audience to be embraced, with its ability to deliver to learning to a place of their choice and by a means appropriate for them.

  2. Diversity TRaining
I am currently involved in developing diversity modules around best value from a customer care perspective. There are a range of work based possibilities.I have no experience of IT learning.I am an experienced equal opportunity trainer and an elected member of two local authorities.I think I know where you are coming from!

  3. diversity training
e learning does not suit every topic and diversity, in my opinion is one of those it doesn’t.

Diversity training is best done in an interactive environment preferably with other human beings to interact with. Participants share experiences and learn from other people within the group along with receiving trainer input.

There are some diversity e learning modules on the market, though they tend to be US designed, so have a different agenda, they also use different language to what is used/acceptable in the UK; the main one being disabled(UK)/handicapped (US).

The Local Authorities I have worked with have all looked at e learning, but have opted for face to face solutions.

As long as the training objectives are tight and an effective evaluation can be carried out, all feel this is the best option.

I hope this is of assistance, please contact me if you wish to discuss further.
