A recent study conducted by Foote Partners, a US IT staffing research firm, has revealed that vendor-certified employees are far more likely to receive higher bonuses than those employees without certification.

The study found that “for workers on average pay rates, bonuses for those with certification hover around 8.3% of base pay, while bonuses for workers without certification have fallen to 8.1%, down from a high of 10.2% in the third quarter of 2000.” According to Computer Weekly magazine.

Harvard Business School lecturer, Robert D Austin, agrees with the study by commenting that the type of certification an employee holds may determine their value to an employer.
