Electronic learning library

default-16x9

I am looking at the provision of learning resources within my organisation and want to move away from a physical learning resource centre full of books, videos and the like.

I would like an online resource which can be used by anyone in the business which contains electronic copies of relevant books say in pdf format and video clips etc which can be viewed at any time by staff. This would also be useful when conducting training sessions as rather than hunt round for a manky old video tape we could stream it direct from the electronic resource centre.

Does anyone have a resource like this already or know of any contacts that could help me develop one?

Although not precisely what you’re after, a good start would be your local public library service’s online public access catalogue (OPAC).
    See http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/town/square/ac940/weblibs.html#opacs
In addition, Google Book Search (which now includes audio-visual materials) is useful as it allows text searches in most cases
    See

ILM has a good online resource for Members use and is specifically focused on leadership & management of course.

  2. Have you Moodled yet?
    Hi
Have you heard of Moodle? This might help as you can set up links to web sites, resources, quizzes etc and you can track what people have looked at. The only downside if the maximum file size of 2mb but I am sure you can get around that!

You can view more about it at http://moodle.org/

i have set up an internal site with loads of exercises and reference material. It can be accessed through our intranet. Once the techie guys uploaded it it is really easy for the administrator (me) to maintain. oh and its free!

Are you (still) working in a government dept? If so, you (and all your colleagues) may be eligible to free access to our new and extremely good online resource called Government Select.
Drop me an email and I’ll see what I can do.

  4. e-library books and other online resources
    Hi craig
Visit: http://www.ivysoft.co.uk and click software, you will see they supply an e-library (choose from over 5000 titles or choose Bookbytes-5 page summaries of main business books). They also offer business videos online, e-learning and much more. This should cover your needs. feel free to call me 07970370863.

  5. Digital Content Library available
Notice your comment – yes, publishers of training content are going down the streaming route and can provide a vast range of video clips, pdfs etc for use in training from 100 of programmes. If you want more information on the digital content library contact me.
