eLISA launched

default-16x9

eLISA - e-Learning Innovation-Center Saxony-Anhalt, the ambitious project started by software development company 'online GmbH', has expanded into new areas. In cooperation with the parent company CELOOK, the German Telekom AG and the IBM Deutschland GmbH new and innovative perspectives has been developed - namely Application Service Providing (ASP).

ASP will focus the learning process on the use of services and thus overcome the current barriers to the use of modern e-learning systems - i.e. the requirements for considerable investment in technical systems (hardware, software, communications), know-how and staff.

Customers will be able to book courses of a specific period of time on centralised e-learning platforms and pay for the requested courses on a monthly basis. The payment will cover the use of the technical platform, data safety technologies and comprehensive customer services. Students can register for a course, receive personal access dates and access the course with their PC and Web browser, regardless of time or location.

The relevant agreements to launch the new scheme were signed earlier this year between the partners. In September 2001 the first eight virtual academy projects, with 120 participants, started on the ASP-platform in Querfurt, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.
