Employees value Coaching

default-16x9

AmKon Training Services and Motorecruit have been conducting a survey regarding how beneficial employees feel coaching is to them.

The results are pleasing as employees show that they embrace the concept of being coached, and for those who have already experienced coaching say that they have definitely benefitted from the experience.

Coaching not only develops skills learned, it also allows the coachee to have a positive outcome. It develops employees along their personal and professional journeys, makes them feel valued by their employer and increases engagement with management.

All decisions come from the heart, emotion is what drives employees within their role, so to feel valued, respected and needed are tremendous stimulants to get your staff to respond and participate even in the not so enjoyable tasks a day can unfold.

If your organisation doesn't already embrace the concept of coaching, we suggest in order for you to move your business forward, you seriously start to think about the benefits coaching brings. For employers not sure of the difference between training and coaching, here is an explaination;

Training is an activity that is normally delivered to a group of delegates. Training is for people to become familiar with new skills, or learn how to do things relevant to their job role. In fact a trainer could be described as a teacher of a subject. A good example of learning a new skill is learning how to drive. At first you need to learn where the controls are on the car and what to do with them to make the car move. However, it is not until you have passed your driving test that you actually put the skills into practice and perfect them to make safe journeys. The perfecting of the learned skills is basically what coaching helps an individual to do.
Coaching is an activity is carried out on a 1-2-1 basis, as it is all about developing you and your skills. The analogy of the car journey, is what coaching will do. Everyone has an A-B journey in life although not all the steps along the way may be so clear. The coaching takes people through the steps and to a desired outcome. This is why it is performed on a 1-2-1 basis as every individual is unique with different journeys and different steps in achieving the outcome.
So whatever your role is, in order to achieve maximum potential, understand your strengths and weaknesses and build the weaknesses into strengths, coaching will help you to do this.
Both training and coaching are essential in personal development in your professional journey. However, to try and perform one without the other, is like trying to make a cup of coffee without the coffee. From training you benefit by learning, from coaching you benefit by developing and improving the skills learned.
