The Basic Skills Agency has received an EU grant to develop a European Basic Skills Network. According to their web press release:
"We've received a grant from the European Commission to build a European Basic Skills Network to tackle social exclusion. We'll be working with partners in France, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Scotland and Eire to map existing research into the influence of poor skills on social exclusion. We'll also be identifying and evaluating the range of measures taken by organisations in member states to tackle social exclusion. The end result of the project will be a set of policy recommendations for the Governments of all Member States and for the European Commission about the most effective ways of incorporating basic skills provision in social exclusion programmes."
