What are your thoughts on whether the EDL is becoming recognised in the workplace?
We are thinking of teaching it at Ripon (North Yorkshire) Community Ed to add to our usual OCR courses. Does anyone in HR have any experience - is this now specified or recognised with employers?
Any advice appreciated.
Many thanks.

Would-be employers like it…..

I deliver the ECDL to unemployed people, to assist them in finding work. Previously, we’ve always used NVQ’s instead, and there certainly seems to be impressive employer feedback concerning ECDL. The currency & range of the curriculum goes down well, with all of the MS Office range being covered (bar Outlook), plus the Internet & e mail.
It’s a very efficient course to administer, and the “chain of command” is a lot smaller compared to other awards. If you have a problem, you can contact the BCS directly, rather than just pass a message up the ladder.
We are also starting to receive a lot of enquiries from SME’s re: staff training.
Mail me if you want any further info. Good luck, & Merry Xmas!

How about MOUS
We have` found within our organisation that MOUS exams (Microsoft Office User Specialist) qualifications are very desirable from an employers point of view. They demonstrate that users have a relevant and update knowledge of software usage. For more information please contact me on 0117 9175056
