Facts & Figures

default-16x9

Morning all,

I'm looking for some basic data on the Training industry generally. Figures such as the number of training companies in the UK, their turn over, vertical markets they serve (e.g. IT), the number of courses run per sector. Attendance they run at – on average are courses full, 75% or running at half capacity (The number of empty seats). Additionally are there any figures available for lost revenues from unsold places at training courses in the UK and the number of courses cancelled or postponed due to low attendance. If there are no figures available for the whole of the training industry then the one of main interest would be the IT sector.

Does anybody have such figures available or can at least please point me in the right direction. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated, many thanks
Best regards
Robert

The Training Foundation generally tracks this type of training related research data as part of our mission to empower everyone involved in training and developing others.

I have checked the Statistics we monitor provided by the Office for National Statistics and the DfES but have failed to find a precise match for your needs.

The nearest match I can find is listed at:

    http://www.trainingfoundation.com/research/default.asp?PageID=802

Figures are provided for key indicators of employers’ commitment to training, including the management and delivery of training, the levels of provision of both off-the-job and on-the-job training, and also awareness of, and involvement with, various training initiatives. The figures quoted relate to employers in England with five or more employees.

The figures for off-the-job training include all training away from the immediate work position. It can be given at the employers’ premises or elsewhere. It includes all sorts of courses – full or part time; correspondence or distance learning, Health and Safety and so on – as long as it is funded or arranged by the employer.

General statistics relating to the IT Training Industry are tracked on an annual basis by IT Skills Research. You will find a summary of the fifth annual table of the UK Top 50 IT training providers online at:

    http://www.itskillsresearch.co.uk/

Look under ‘Top 50’ in the left hand margin.

Whilst this information does not meet your precise needs I hope this is of some assistance nonetheless.

    Best wishes

  3. No. of Providers
The Training Manager’s Yearbook lists almost 2,000 but from the numbers who have registered for VAT that describe themselves as a training provider the number is just over 5,000.
Some of the other details you do need are in the Keynote report – Tel:020-8481 8750.
