The learning and development shortlist for the 2008 People Management Awards has been announced by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
The Byrne Group, Cisco Systems, Meadowhall Shopping Centre and the Welsh Assembly Government are all in the running.
The finalists are up for an award which acknowledges outstanding practice in the management and development of people. This year's awards have four categories – learning and development; employee engagement; management of change and talent management.
There will be a winner and a runner up within each category, who will be selected at a judging day in London on 17 July. The official announcement will be made at the CIPD annual conference gala dinner on 17 September in Harrogate.
CIPD chief executive Jackie Orme, who will be helping to judge the award, said that she was hugely impressed by the response and range of initiatives across the sectors this year.
"The CIPD will continue to reward and encourage good people management and development and we are delighted that 2008 has seen the highest level of entries in the history of the award so far. I’d like to congratulate all those involved this year for driving forward the issues that matter in the HR profession."
