Finder’s fee charges

default-16x9

Hi all,

We run a training consultancy that specialises in soft skills training and HR Consultancy. We have been approached by other companies to source various technical courses. Please advise on what the practising norm is for a "finders fee" or what advice can you give us on working out a markup?

Any assistance would be highly appreciated.

  1. 10 to 50%

    Hi Fiona

When I was consulting I found myself on both sides of this question.

Firstly as a supplier what fee is acceptable for others (brokers for instance) to take from me for finding work for me?

Secondly as a consultant recommending others to my clients, what fee should I expect for making referrals that result in business?

Short answer – anything from 10 – 50% depending upon market, volume, repeat business etc.  Biggest %age was always taken by brokers who believed they had made a massive investment in marketing to gain the client.

I always formalized the agreement in writing.
