getting started in freelance training and development

default-16x9

I have worked in many corporate organisations over the past 8 years and have gained invaluable experience within my chosen career of T&D.

I now feel it's time to build a business of my own, I just want to make sure I'm going into this with my eyes open.

I'm not working at the moment and feel this is a great opportunity to begin my research. If anyone can advise on how to get started, it would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks

  1. Have you tried agencies?
Why not register with agencies like Training Synergy? There are a number of agencies around – they supply Corporates and Commerical training companies with consultants. Getting freelance work or contracts is a good way to build up a network of contacts. I worked on a 7 week programme which was subsequently extended for 8 months. Once that finished, I then spent several months working with another supplier on the same project. Having returned to manage a corporate training department, I now tend to use independant consultants – something I know my counterparts at other City banks are also doing – because training companies don’t tend to be very flexible.
