Diversity training is the process whereby workers are trained on racial, cultural, sexual and other sensitivities in the workplace. Advocates of it espouse the benefits of understanding the problems of minorities, be they ethnic, gender or otherwise, in the belief that it encourages understanding and tolerance while also making the differences between people a virtue to be used positively.

Critics say it stymies activity and actually enforces divisions between people by highlighting them. From Wikipedia: 'It has been suggested that diversity training reinforces differences between individuals instead of fostering their commonalities, thus helping to further racialise the workplace, creating situations where people 'tiptoe' around issues such as how to relate to people of different cultures as opposed to people learning to communicate with and truly understand each other.'
