Have to run a two hour taster session on Skills Analysis – Help please !

default-16x9

I have to run a taster session lasting two hours on Skills Analysis...working with clients who are not necessarily in work at the moment but possibly some who are.

Just wondered if anyone could give me any suggestions please as to content and timescales for activities. I would like to make it as interactive as possible.

Many thanks !!

  1. tough call!
A two hour session is a real challenge since it is such a short time.

I used to use a very simple (almost insultingly so) approach to this, which was to pretend I was a total newcomer eg a person who had grown up in the middle of a jungle or desert.
I would ask someone to name a skill they use on a daily basis and then deconstruct it by asking the most idiotic sounding questions So if their skill was “I produce weekly reports”
    I’d ask….
~Where do you get the information?
~How do you know what information to include?
    ~Who has the information?
~How are you going to get them to tell you the information?
~How do you present the information?
    ~~In what order?
    ~~To whom?
    ~~When?

very quickly you can see the skills used by the individual to produce a weekly report

If you can do this for one example in 10 minutes you now have 110 minutes to play with!
I’d then get each person to come op with a skill and get their neighbour to ask the idiot questions..
it always worked to a degree
