Hints on syndicate exercises looking at planning and managing learning

I am currently developing a set of workshops on Learning Management and Analysis but am stuck on ideas for some syndicate exercises to break up the session and get people thinking. These will be the first 'formal' training sessions I've run.
Can any experienced trainers out there help please? Thanks
