How big is your L&D/Training team?

default-16x9

Hi Just wandering what the optimal size of an L&D team supporting 500 employees should be?

I recognise that this also depends on the systems you have available.  I have no online booking system its all done by paper and I have 16 hours of part time administrative support to do all the bookings.

Does this sound right? How are other companies our size structured?

  1. Anecdotally speaking….

    Hi.

I think it is generally accepted in the L&D fraternity that 100:1 is about right, although very few businesses appear to be resourced appropriately in this economic environment.

Anything below this ratio usually means that the business is:

    1. Taking advantage of a blended/elearning approach

    2. Outsourcing

    3. Using in-house SMEs to deliver training; or

…they're generally not coping with demand.

In an organisation with 500 staff, I would expect to see a small team of 5 driving learning, subject to the above.

    Kind regards,
