How to train Events and Retail Staff

Hello Training Zone,

I'd love to hear from any one who can advise on specific training for Exhibition, Events and Retail staff.

Historically I have trained sales staff on Cold Calling and Face to face selling at an Appointment.  Although there will be transferable elements I might be able to include in an induction course for Exhibiting and Events, I am keen to discover more about training the initial approach and the full cycle to a sale. For example:

* How to make an introduction to passers by in a Shopping Centre

* How to maintain interest and engage the shopper/passer by

* Hints and tips to get buy in.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  1. it rather depends on the intent…

    I was involved with a project recently where the client traditionally handed out brochures and freebies and collected names and contact details of event visitors….but the ROI was virtually non existent

    This year they set out to actually engage visitors in meaningful conversations about the product, and collect qualified contact details about potential customers rather than just any old name.

    This required some product training, some customer awareness skills and questioning skills as well as developing some passion
