HRD Functions


I want to have some knowledge in the basic functions of the human resources department as well the duties and responsibilities of the human resources officer.

  1. Duties of HRD Practitioners

    Duties can be quite different from firm to firm, but generally involve activities within, or including the range of:

    1. Identifying training needs
    2. Determining how identified needs will be met
    3. Designing and developing instructional media and interventions; hiring consultants or providers to design etc
    4. Delivering training/development
    5. Administering external study programs eg, university attendance, supported programs
    6. Assessing participants performance
    7. Recording attendances, results, and managing funds allocated for training
    8. Evaluation of training activities
    9. Marketing and publicising the department’s activities and training programs
    10.Assisting operational staffs with performance problems said to be related to training

    This just about covers it. If it is a larger role, it extends from HRd into something else, perhaps HRD & Organisational Performance.
