IBM released on Monday a new notebook which measures less than an inch thick and weighs only three pounds. This is the first in series of mini-notebooks intended for those who travel frequently.

There are two basic models:

  • The X20 2262 model has a 12.1 inch screen with a mobile Celeron chip running at 500MHz, a 10GB hard drive and a four-cell lithium ion battery that will last just over two hours.
  • The X20 2662 model offers a higher resolution XGA screen and a low-power 600MHz mobile Pentium III with SpeedStep technology, there is also a larger six-cell battery.

The X-series are the latest to join IBM's ThinkPads series of notebooks.
