Innovative training!

default-16x9

I work for Jumeirah International as a Training Manager in Dubai after moving here from the UK in February this year.

I have been asked to give a 2 hour training in one of our hotels to the departmental trainers. It must be something interesting and innovative! The last person to do this did effective flip chart techniques so I am hoping I can top that!

Any help with ideas please?

  1. Electronic presentations
Have you thought of using a powerpoint presentation instead of a flip chart, or even using a video presentation with integrated graphics. Adobe acrobat can also be used to create very good visual on-screen presentations.

  2. Themes for training?
    Hi Emma
Have you ever tried using “themed” workshops? these can be very efective and you could outline the basics, using a theme to do so, in the two hour session. I use these Accelerated Learning principles all the time in my own training and they are very effective. If you would like to contact me direct, I would be happy to let you have a course programme I wrote for a client with a Circus theme to teach Presentation Skills. You are welcome to have this as an example, and talk through any ideas for using a theme in your session. (If anyone else would like a copy as an example of “themes” please e-mail me direct and I will happily let you have it.

  3. 2 hour NLP techniques
Many of the NLP techniques can each be covered in two hours or less as fill-ins or as themes e,g, circle of excellence, new behaviour generator. Metaphor and the power of story can be a great theme for 2 hours with each participant delivering embedded metaphor examples at the end of the session.
For something new and innovative how about introducing some of the NLP techniques which are the “how to” of Emotional Intelligence …. very important for hotel staff working in a service industry and within a multi cultural/multi ethnic environment such as yours.

You are welcome to contact me directly for materials on all the above,
