Institute of IT Training

The Institute is the professional body for IT trainers, with more than 3,500 members in the UK, and international branches in Singapore, Malaysia and S Africa (23 more planned by end 2000). Individual membership is open to IT trainers, TBT developers, Training Managers and Consultants, Technical Support Specialists, on the basis of provable competence in field of activity. For classroom trainers, membership requirements include a current Certificate of Training Skills, ie generic training skills, in addition to provable technical competence. The IITT's Professional Development Programme offers 18 training courses for members (and non-members) with the main focus being on TAP (Trainer Activity Profile), the IITT's best-practice assessable model for classroom training). The IITT also accredits training providers, both external and internal, who subscribe to its Code of Practice. More than 60 training companies are currently accredited accounting for some 75% of the UK IT training market by volume.
