Intranet version of Twitter?

default-16x9

Hi all
Recently I have found twitter a valuable tool for my own "bite size learning".

There are several 'directories' and filters which ensure you see only material relevant to you, however it is world wide.

Does anyone know of a version (or similar tool) that would work on an intranet, so that specific messages went to population in house in real time - I think there is real value in this approach.

Thanks in advanced
Mike Morrison

  1. Why not twitter itself?
I use Twitter a lot, too! I’m not aware of any equivalent that would work on an in-house platform. Have you tried asking your Twitter followers.

That said, why not just use Twitter? Get the users to create a profile and then each to follow all the other members. Over time they may come to follow users outside of the organisation, but isn’t that the whole point? To move beyond the concept of siloes?

  2. Silo – its all relative
There are silos and silos – sometimes the ability to talk ‘privatly’ about what is going on inside an organisation is valuable – as it happens Yammer appears to be a tool which does exactly that.
I agree twitter CAN be valuable – but we don’t want too many people using company time looking out at the big wide world do we?

  3. Twitter has value?

Same here, I'm using Twitter every day and I think it has still value, but I haven't heard any tool for it. I'm also looking to buy cheap Youtube views its helps for having more viewers too.
