Is there a need Project Management skills in Small Medium Enterprises

Do you think there is a need for Project Management skills to be taught in Small to Medium Enterprises. I guess we're talking upto 1000 employees.

If you feel there is should this be based round an industry standard methodology or would it be better customised to meet the specific business's requirements.
