John Matchett Ltd (JML), has achieved a unique milestone for a training software provider by celebrating its 30th anniversary. Long established as a leader in the fields of training administration, skills and learning management, e-learning, testing, examination and compliance, JML began trading in 1971 – when the training software industry was based on ‘green screen’ computer based training for mainframe computers.
Reviewing the developments in the market over the past 30 years, JML’s managing director, John Matchett, said: “The technology used to deliver computer based learning materials has grown ever more sophisticated, but the key to sustained success is ensuring the high quality of these materials.
“Quality can be an essentially subjective concept,” he added. “In the mainstream world of broadcasting and new media the term ‘high quality’ is often synonymous with ‘high production values’.
“By contrast the only valid way to assess the true quality of e-learning resources is to determine if the learners making up the target audience have achieved the learning objectives set for the programme. This is where an effective learning management system (LMS) can pay dividends in monitoring and assessing learners’ mastery of their subject.”
JML is the UK’s largest supplier of LMSs, with a product range based upon ‘Registrar’ training administration software.
