Ladder of Competence Picture

default-16x9

As a fresh faced new trainer back in the late '90's I was given a pcture of the ladder of competence. The picture showed cartoon people climbing the ladder with the people saying a phrase at each level. Has anyone out there seen this picture or do they have anything which depicts the ladder?

  1. Conscious-Competence Model?
    Hi Paul

Was this perhaps the conscious-competence model where someone develops skills etc through being:

    *Unconsciously incompetent (I don’t know I can’t do it)
*Consciously incompetent (Now I know I can’t do it)
*Consciously competent (I know I can do it)
*Unconsciously competent (I can do it without thinking about it)

I deliver this by talking about learning to drive and it fits very well. Email me if you’d like anything else.

  2. Thanks Jenny
Thanks for taking the time to reply.I’m aware of the model itself. I was looking for a good graphic to illustrate it. I use the driving example too.

  3. Search Google
I’ve just done a search of Google using the ‘images’ section and I found three.

So I suggest you go to Google, input ‘Competence Ladder’ and hit the ‘Image’ button just above the entry, and then the search button; simple.
