Although recent reports indicate that we have seen the worst of the Global Financial Crisis, its effect on organizations will be here for some considerable time. Watson Wyatt and WorldatWork recently released their latest Strategic Rewards Survey. Their report makes for sobering reading. Of all the companies surveyed, a full 72% had restructured their business or laid off staff since the crisis began. The impact on employee motivation is clear, with the report indicating that employee engagement levels have dropped 9% compared with last year.
