Enjoyed this, Jon. Rick is one of the more sensible, thoughtful guys in the A.I. sector. Very often the discussion is plagued by histrionics, but he puts a more practical spin on it.
There’s a top level, philosophical debate around A.I. and consciousness, and that’s fine (and incredibly interesting). It’s necessary, of course (lest we create Skynet).
But sometimes it crowds out other important, more practical considerations around A.I. There’s a leap you have to make from the highest level articulation of what A.I. is and could be, down to the practical realities that are available today.
