Leadership Lessons: Perspective

follow_the_leader

In order to succeed it is essential to focus on the things that really make a difference, explains Sir George Cox, Chairman of the Board at Warwick Business School.

It is imperative for leaders to adopt this attitude and to develop it within their teams and the Board to turn a situation around.

"I think one of the best skills that any executive can develop is the ability to stand back and see what matters, to see a situation in perspective" he says.
Well known for his former role as chairman of the Design Council, he carried out the government commissioned Cox Review of Creativity in Business in 2005 and is seen as a 'crusader' for innovation and creativity in business.
During his varied career, he has been director general of The Institute of Directors (IoD), spent much of his career in information technology, has served as the senior independent director of the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange and was chair of Merlin, the international emergency medical aid charity.
