Major issues for coaching today?

default-16x9

Hi Everyone

I am interested to know what you consider to be the major issues facing:

Coaching as it moves towards becoming a profession?

People working as coaches today?

The reason for asking is because I am developing a conference on the business of coaching and want to make it as relevant as possible.

Thanks

  1. Coaching
I feel, as a certified Life coach, that unless we are able to effectively monitor and assess Coaches/Companies offering coaching we will see an increase in what I call ‘Fagin Coaches'(out to make a quick buck from this relatively young ‘profession’) – individuals/organisations who through their lack of epxerience, skills and knowledge of training & coahcing cause more harm than good when developing and coaching individuals/companies.
As of yet no one accreditation/qualification/School of Coaching has been divised that is recognised nationally, so making it hard to ‘police’, validate, quality, effectiveness etc.
I have certain skills as a life coach that would benefit people/business in many ways, however know my limitations and what I can or can’t achieve through effective coaching. ‘Fagin Coaches’ however, in some situations don’t, and all to often I am now hearing of negative horror stories of these coaches causing havoc with people’s lives, business’ etc..
So in short the one major issue I see is not being able to measure/evaluate/ensure best practice across the broad spectrum known as Business Coaching/Life Coaching.
Please contact me directly if you would like any more detail etc. on my expereinces as a Life/Business Coach. Good Luck
