Making Succession Planning Successful

Has anyone got any hints or tips for succession planning? How can we ensure that succession planning is a success in our business?

    You need a starting point, and the first thing you need to identify is :-
    Do you actually have people already in your organisation that would be part of the succession planning that you wish to undertake ?
    Next you need to identify whether those people have the neccessary skills and attributes to actually be included in the succession planning process OR do you need to provide training for them OR do you need to recruit new personnel to satisfy your succession planning objectives.

    As far as your succession planning actually being a success – There isn’t a magic formula and the practicalities are that only time will tell. Once you have selected your people to be included in the process and they eventually move upwards through the organisation is when you will really find out if you have actually achieved what it was you intended to achieve.
