Management styles for Prep School Headteachers

default-16x9

I'm running a session for an hour with Prep school Headteachers next week on Management Styles and am looking for models to share with them. Any ideas that would be particularly relevant for that sector? Thanks.

    Mary
There is a company called AMBIT Learning.
They create management training resources for teachers and LEA’s. They are extremely knowlegable and very helpful.
Call 0845 4023 175 and ask for Steve Bownass.

  2. ncsl website
I am not sure how much you will be able to access, but check out the national college of school leadership’s website http://www.ncsl.org.uk.

1 hr is a tall order!

  3. Effective Leadership is an individual matter
    Dear Mary

Your audience will have already faced many leadership challenges successfully. They will each have used their unique gifts to create an appropriate response to the situation.

I like the idea that everyone has a unique gift and central strength and purpose and when we are using them and fulfilling our purpose, everything goes well, including leadership.

I think your audience would probably gain a lot by sharing their success stories in small groups and thinking about how they did what they did. This might be more useful than sharing ideas on models.

If you are interested in the ideas behind this approach, do have a look at the flame institute website http://www.theflameinstitute.com We help people discover their unique gift or flame. Everyone has one, they are all attractive and interesting!

  4. a model to start with…
Management is a large subject and so different models are used for different areas and needs. A good basic start model is McGreggor’s XY theory. As a teacher of management in the NHS and my own training company I am happy to suggest furhter with more details of needs.
