measuring conflict management styles

default-16x9

Can anybody recommend a tool that will help people to identify their conflict management style; or an exercise (s) that will help people to identify with their style.

Many thanks.

You might want to try the Thomas-Kilman Conflict Instrument which is useful in helping participants understand their own approach to conflict and its implications.

I can also recommend the TKI, self-scoreable, high face validity and inexpensive. Can open up some very good group discussion around conflict, decision making, influencing etc. I often use something like the ‘NASA’ exercise as an introduction to the topic – or ‘cave rescue’ if you want to get some real conflict going!

  3. The SDI Strength Deployment Inventory is useful for this.
The SDI Strength Deployment Inventory is useful for this.It enables people to gain awareness of why they and others behave as they do, and to discuss this in a way that is likely to defuse misunderstandings.
