MyersBriggs Training

default-16x9

I would like to become qualified to deliver the Myers Briggs Personality Type Questionnaire however I am having trouble finding a suitable organisation who does this.
I work for a charity so cannot afford the travel costs and the £2300 cost for the training in London that I have seen on the web.
Does anyone know of someone in the North, preferable North West region and who do not charge the earth for providing this training.
I have contacted the Myers Briggs foundation but they only know of this one company in England so fingers crossed one of you may hold the key to my question.
Thanks
Claire Ross

  1. MBTI Training
Claire asked about low cost MBTI training for charities.

A search of TrainerBase & UKHRD found this potential solution:

“It’s my understanding that OPP have allowed a
limited number of low-cost training workshops to be offered for charities
etc., at Emmaus House in Bristol; contact number is 0117 9079950.”

Alternativly have a look at training in the US, costs from $1000 so even with flights this would be half the cost of doing it in the UK.

The ‘challenge’ would be buying the instrument – as OPP are the only seller in the UK, and the US version has diff ‘norms’.

Alternativly have a look at other Jung based tests which provide a simular output and are a lower cost.

Also consider your application. Do you REALY need MBTI?

You could read up on the theory & underpinning knowledge and still use the model effectivly.

Happy to talk more off line.

  2. MBTI
OPP in the UK are the distributors for the MBTI and also provide training at a variety of venues. I agree that it is expensive. Have you considered trying to engage an MBTI Qualified practitioner who may be prepared to reduce their fees to support a charity. Alternatively, as Mike suggests, a Jungian based instrument that delivers similar results may be useful. The downside is often the robustness of such instruments. MBTI is well researched and validated which may account for some of it’s expense. I am MBTI qualified and certainly would consider working at reduced fees in a charity setting. 07921 072 020

  3. Other Jungian Based Tools
    Hi Claire,

I would seriously consider if you really need MBTI. Compared to other tools like ‘Insights’ (developed by Andi Lothian), it is not as repeatable nor reliable and one hell of a lot less teachable! (imho)http://www.insights.com/core/English/default.shtm. Also there are tools on the net, e.g. the Kiersay Temperament sorter http://www.advisorteam.org/.

I am Insights qualified and I would recommend it over MBTI every time! Happy to discuss more if that would help!

    Regards

    Paul
