NEBS Management, in partnership with Scitech Educational, is initiating a multi-media learning resource, which is the first of its kind and which can enable people to study and gain information anywhere in the world. 'The Universal Manager' will have its first showing on Stand No. 1510, at the Human Resource Development 2000 Exhibition, held at Olympia, London from 4-6 April 2000.
A powerful, training resource, the Universal Manager integrates traditional learning material with e-knowledge sources, and is designed to enable individuals and organisations to reap the full benefits of the vast information source available from the world wide web.
Sally Messenger, Chief Executive, NEBS Management says:
'The major challenge for trainers in businesses is to help people to manage and find their way through the vast quantity of options that are available. The Universal Manager is a flexible resource incorporating on-line facilities that have clearly sign-posted links between them, or can be used individually, CD-ROM and printed-based materials.'
The website incorporates discussion forums on management development and business performance solutions and allows a continual rapid pace of change. These will help facilitate and tackle work-based problems allowing individuals and businesses to solve immediate issues head to head.
The website also contains additional support material on hot topics; some commissioned pieces and contains hyper-links to other sites, offering a clearly sign-posted route to high quality information.
The CD-ROM takes managers through the personal planning for their own development and signposts them to the information that they need within the context of their own planned development. The planning process in itself should result in an action plan which links personal development and the skills to complete the job more efficiently.
There are hyper-links from the CD-ROM to useful sites on the web or publications that can be either accessed or ordered.
The package contains fifteen print-based dossiers, on seven key business issues, which provide the core knowledge that would be common to any management development programme. These include papers on project and knowledge management. The main business topics cover diversity, empowering people, ICT, globalisation, sustainability, ethical management and management principles within differing corporation sizes.
Sally Messenger concludes:
'The Universal Manager is easy to understand and apply and evolves with the ever changing and sometimes unpredictable needs of modern day business. The design and content of these materials reflect the current and emerging challenges faced by the twenty-first century manager'.
