New Business Start Training

default-16x9

We have had a range of experiences with so called New Business Start Up Trainers, all of whom appaer to have come from a career in the public sector (e.g. ex TEC employees), or retired bank managers, all of whom working together have no appreciable experience of running a business.
Has any one any experience of Trainers with actual experience of business offering quality training to new business start ups?
We are especially interested in the midlands and north west geographies

  1. Business start-up training
    Malcolm,

I read your comments with interest. We are currently developing training materials for business start-ups and have wide ranging experience in the private sector.

If this is of interest to you, please email me at j.cotterill@tfa.co.uk

  2. Start up trainers with experience of ‘starting up’
A common problem with funded training we have found. We have run several workshops utilising the skills from those who have started up and failed and restarted as well as those with proven track records of mutiple start up operations.

If you want some details on tutor costs and course material please let us know.

  3. Recommendation
I have recently moved from the public sector (education) to working for myself. I can highly recommend the support I got from W.I.S.E. – referred by Business Link. Woment Into Self Employment provided an excellent one to one service and supported me with writing my business plan, cash flow, organise tax seminars via I Revenue, one to one with an accountant and other sessions on marketing, cash flow and a range of other issues. You can pick what you go to and the same trainer/consultant works with you throughout. They also give follow up support as your business takes off. 0121 446 4444 – Birmingham Sparkbrook Southside Business Centre

  4. personal experience
    Malcolm

My previous experience in business start-ups for myself and my husband would agree with yours. At the moment I am employed part-time by Truro College Business Centre (Cornwall) delivering an NCFE Advanced Certificate in Preparation for Business. All the tutors on the course have personal experience of running a small business. May be one of your local colleges offers a similar programme?

  5. Business Start Up – Considered franchising?
Just to add to the comments. I run weekly seminars for people looking at self-employment and who might consider franchising as the route. We go through basics of research, business planning etc.
This might be of interest to people beginning to look at business start up.

Give me a call/e-mail if you want to find out more.

  6. Training Options
Hi, Like many other of your respondents, I too am self-employed. I set up in business myself about 18 months ago and experienced a steep learning curve. In addition to my HR Consultancy work, I also run training programmes for professional refugees on employability skills. Many of them consider self-employment and I have therefore had to include this in my courses. I believe that I can also provide an added dimension of cultural awareness.

If you want to discuss this further please feel free to email or telephone me.

  7. Can we help?
Exsel (Int) Ltd are an ILM Centre for Business Start Up. Our trainers have all been through the process of starting their own business and therefore are able to deliver the course based on experience rather than knowledge.

They work within the North West and Midlands areas so if you would like to discuss ways in which we may be able to help you then please feel free to contact me.
