New starter Traning Programme

default-16x9

I am in the process of writing a 12-week new starter programme for my business. I wonder if anybody would be willing to share details of their existing induction programmes with me? In particular I am interested in the design of training folders handed to new starters. The intention is that they will continue to use the folder as ongoing support and also to manage their own training records etc going forward after the initial 12 weeks. Has anything ever been done on a modular basis before? What works and what does not? Would anybody be willing to let me see what they use, either soft or hard copy? I would appreciate any advice. Thanking you in anticipation!

  1. Induction
For good basic ideas have a look at the Power Point presentation templates. Though basic they cover most of the requirements.
Another sourse is the ACAS web site which is a mine of free information and guidelines.

  2. I may be able to assist
    Hi Zoe,

I work with Sarah Reitano at FNB. (she has mentioned you may need some help)I have recently put together some new starter packs for operational staff, inlcuding new starter checklists, system learning material etc. If you want to give me a call to discuss further. 01933 6778140

  3. this may be outside your want but it could be useful
Telephones systems are different in almost all organisations and so are the security systems, if appropriate.
We produced a simple little credit card sized laminate that helped new starters do things like set their voicemail, hold conference calls, transfer calls and pick up v/m from off site. We did the same for the alarm systems.
It may not seem “business critical” but it certainly gave people one less problem to think about

  4. Revamped induction
    Hi Zoe

If you want to get in touch directly I can talk you through our redesign. We have received very positive feedback about how professional and helpful the welcome packs are we give out.

  5. Drip Feed it
    Zoe,

I’d just make one comment really. That is to drip feed the information.

When somebody joins an organisation there’s an awful lot to take in so don’t flood people with information they don’t need at that time.

    Does that make sense?
