personality profile tool for working with children

default-16x9

Hi

A young friend of mine has the opportunity to take part in a volunteer project in Bolivia in September. She's applied to do a Care project so will probably be working either with orphaned children or with children with disabilities. She received an email from the Project Coordinator in Bolivia and they need her to take some form of psychological examination.  The email she received is not very clear about exactly what test is required and when she asked for more details the project coordinator explained that all it needed to be was some form of personality test which proves that she's a suitable person for working with children.

Do any of you know of any specific tests that would be particularly suitable.

I've already suggested MBTI, Insights and the Evaluation Store's Spectrum profiles but none of them are specifically about working with children.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Thanks

  1. Try Morrisby or 16PF5

    Hi Stella

As far as I am aware, none of the mainstream personality assessments will focus on a specific career – I’m guessing they just want supplementary evidence to indicate she is likely to be stable, trustworthy etc. Have a look at OPP’s 16PF5 – a good, solid personality assessment, and they do a Career Development version of the report which could be what you are looking for.

The only other idea I have is to try something like the Morrisby Profile, which is a battery of tests that gives ideas of careers you are well matched to. There are other interest inventories out there that point to career choice, but they are not full on personality assessments.

    Hope this helps!

  2. which profile

     Hi Stella,

almost any perrsonality profile can be used IF you know the traits (not type) of people in that environment. MBTI as a type based indicator will not help here

but better than personality profiles will be career development profiles – very different beasts

things like career anchors and other such tools exist which CAN HELP in this area, but it is as much art as it is science…

    BUT

as the project have said "some form of psychological examination."

this suggests they are looking for certain traits, traits that will only show under tools like OPQ, 16PF or 5 factor tools.

They may be looking for stability, stress mechanisms, narcosis etc.
