Personnel Issues

default-16x9

I have been tasked with planning a 'Personnel Issues' session to managers of various colleges in our local area. I am looking for exercises/role play based around manager's responsibilities when recruiting staff, law, contracts, managing sickness, appraisals, disciplinary etc. I have loads of case studies but little else. Any help would be great!

One Response

  1. Manager training
How about taking some of the case study material and work it into role play scenarios for the managers to work through and comment on. You set the scene and then ask them to play it out. If you want to raise specific issues; give the manager certain information and the interviewee specific answers to provoke response from the manager that raises the subject you wish to cover.

This allows for them to make mistakes which do not cause any damage to the organisation; their peers can comment or add their opinions, to which you also have the opportunity to comment on.

I have found it works quite well, although you do need to have people who are happy to “role play” – some of my managers are a bit reluctant! It does take a little while, but you will have the material to use again in the future.

    Hope that helps
