Personnel/Human Resource courses

default-16x9

I am currently under contract to a local college, dealing with students who access community based courses. I have a query from a woman who works as a personnel manager for a company. She has not needed a qualification before, but now feels that as she is 'doing the job', she ought to get qualified.

The woman lives in South Yorkshire and travels to Hull to do her job. She will be allowed off the job training to complete her studies. If anyone has any knowledge of what courses are on offer then please do contact me.

Thanks

Chris.

  1. Personnel courses
We offer a range of personnel NVQs which are recognised by IPD and are excellent for an experienced officer who seeks to gain further professional qualifications. There are also diplomas and other courses available but at the present time we are training individuals who have abandoned the college route for this practical method.
We have also found that this route offers more practical application for the individual who may be facing a particular problem. For example we are presently assisting one person who is putting her company through IIP. Another who needed advice on Health and Safety and equal opps policy. The scope is wide and the topics endless.
Most NVQ’s in personnel should and do include a lot of workshops and tuition as well as evidence gathering.

  2. Courses for HR
There is the full blown CIPD qualification though rather more useful might be the CPP – Certificate in Personnel Practice which is offered by many colleges

Suggest check with the FE/HE college in Hull for day release (York College offers the course so travel might be as easy to York as Hull- I know several people who have found it beneficial. Contact Mark Fisher on 01904 770373, use my name)- and some colleges do Saturdays which might be an option.

  3. Is she interested in online courses?
If so, the best source for information about online courses is http://www.Lguide.com. Click on Business, then the Human Resources category for reviews of online courses that may be of interest.

    Cheers.
