Preparation is the key to success

default-16x9

I'm running a course on how to run a 1-2-1, I want a training exercise that can be used to drive home the message that preparation is important but I'm getting stuck.

Please if you haev any ideas or past successess then let me know.

  1. Preparation exercise
    Simple!

Just set time aside to do a preparation exercise but don’t prepare for it. Tell the delegates that you haven’t prepared for the exercise and see what happens. It’s important to demonstrate not just the effect on you but also the effect on other people of preparation!

  2. Preparation
How about this. In your pre-course brief ask the delegates to prepare for a 1:1 (you give them a vague scenario). Then as soon as the class starts get them to role play it. Many will not have prepared with predictable results. Later give them time to prepare a 1:1 and then role play that. Now compare the two sessions. The results should be obvious to all. “Fail to Prepare – Prepare to Fail” as they say.
