professional indemnity necessary?

default-16x9

Do small organisations provide professional indemnity insurance to sessional trainers or require them to provide their own? I am trying to draft an informal contract for occasional sessional trainers and wonder if I need to stipulate this requirement? Do small training organisations have professional indemnity insurance?

This is a bit of a chicken and egg question. Contracts by their very nature are not informal. I would suggest if you really want PI insurance then specify it in writing.

It depends on the set up of the supplier eg partnership, ltd co, sole trader – some sole traders have their own PI insurance, some dont.

This forum can only provide a generalised non-specific answer to what is a very particular need from a supplier.

Depends on the nature of the training. In legal topics we add them onto our cover and in some soft skills it is not necessary due to the level of risk of the course.

In Health and Safety training it is very important to have PI cover at the level we train at.

Depends on the work and the type of exposure with your client which can also be dealt with in a contract.
