Qualification for a PA

default-16x9

A colleague has asked for advice on a suitable professional qualification for a PA to work towards. She is employed in the private sector, working for a senior manager. She is ambitious and wants to improve her skills and show her competence.

I have not come across anything suitable. Any advice please?

thanks

Marian

  1. Institute of Professional Administrators?

    Hi Marian,

My PA has recently started looking into this also and came across the Institute of Professional Administrators (IPA) where there is guidance and information about suitable qualifications in her area.

The PA in question may wish to contact them or take a look at their website:

Hope this information may be of use.

  2. how ‘ambitious’?

ie does she want to be a PA or is she using the role as a stepping stone to another career (it may be politically inadvisable for her to admit to this!)

If the former then the advice already given is fantastic, if the latter then it all depends where she wants to go! In this case doing the qulaifications as a PA may actually be career limiting
