I’m a student conducting a survey on management Training & Development practices. Any suggestions on a valid survey questionnaire that I can use to collect relevant information from companies operating in our market (small oil & gas industry)?

    Who are you surveying; L&D departments or line managers or attendees on training?

    What are the objectives of your survey?

    What are the parameters of "management Training and Development"?

    Are you looking at the full cycle of T&D; Business analysis, TNA, Delivery and full Kirkpatrick evaluation or a lesser section?

    Are you including "learning activity" or solely the "delivery" of T&D by the client company?

     

    You want to answer these questions for yourself before you go much further

    Many thanks Rus, for raising these questions and responding to my enquiry. Let me summarize what I’m seeking to explore:
    The purpose of my research study seeks to explore and to describe and compare key elements of implemented training and development methods, formal techniques and approaches applied in the oil and gas industry in my country in order to determine how these training and development practiced methods contribute to the development of local employees
    Of special interest are 2 levels of management (supervisors and department managers) that require specialized knowledge, skills, experience and abilities. Additionally, to understand what training and development opportunities exist and whether they are trade-focused and or geared towards advancing the employee towards more responsible positions within the oil and gas companies. Finally, the study seeks to explore the challenges these companies encounter during the training and development process.
    To your last question about the learning activity, Yes I’m studying whether the local employees have developed the preliminary workplace competencies which can be built upon to ensure continued operations.
